Introductions

Suzanne

Hello!  I'm your class teacher and I'm really delighted to be working with you all this term.
I'm not going to give you any information about myself here, but you are welcome to ask any appropriate* questions in the comments section at the bottom of this post (you might want to ask me about my family, my home, hobbies and interests).  If you have used a correct question form, I will be happy to answer it.  If you have not formed the question correctly, I might ask you to try to re-word it!

I do have a question for you, which you can answer in the comments section:
* appropriate - what does this mean here?

    1. Sorry, I forget the definition. As I see, appropriate means suitable and interesting.

What I would like to ask you is: What are your hobbies currently?

    2. I don't really have any hobbies as such, but I enjoy reading, walking, travelling and spending time with my family and friends. In a way, studying for an MA is a bit of a hobby.

    1. I'm not sure you've caught the exact meaning of appropriate - have a look at some of the definitions your classmates have suggested. Thank you for your questions. The answers will be in my introduction, which I will post next week, when you will be doing a similar exercise!

  4. I believe an appropriate question should not be rude nor too personal.

What I would like to ask you is: What is your favourite book and movie?

    1. You're quite right about an appropriate question - and yours is very interesting, although I do find it difficult to answer. So many books and films to choose from - I'm not sure there's an all-out favourite. One book that moved me tremendously was "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry. I also love most of the books by Khaled Hosseini and The Life of Pi by Yann Martel was not only a great read, but a fabulous film too. Let's open this question to the rest of the class.......

    2. I've read two of Hosseini's books a while ago and liked them very much. I heard he's just written a new one and I'm hoping to read it soon.
A book I liked is Orwell's Animal Farm, I also enjoyed reading Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky.
A couple of my favourite films are The Shawshank Redemption and 12 Angry Men.

    1. Good definition of appropriate for this context - I think Khawiah adds to this in her comment. Iman, I'm not going to answer these questions yet - I'd like everyone to think about forming questions in the past simple and also the present perfect. If possible, have a go at reforming these questions please. Let's get them perfect!!

    2. What I would like to ask you is : what is your favorite place in Warwickshire?

    3. That's easy to answer - it's my village. I've lived here for over 20 years and it's not just because it's a beautiful, peaceful place to live - I think it's also about the people who surround me. What's your favourite place in Warwickshire?

    1. Right now I'm sitting on my computer, drinking a refreshing lime and soda and enjoying reading all your comments. I spend too much time sitting at the computer, but it's necessary for my studies. Often I will meet up with friends to play cards, discuss books or simply catch up with their news over a few drinks. Of course that's after having supper with my family. I do think it's important for children to "fly the nest" when they have finished school. It's good to give them some real-world experience. What does anyone else think about this?
